Mumbai News: Arrest of Pharmacy Owner for Psychotropic Drugs Export
Mumbai: The Air Cargo Customs officials at the Air Postal Sorting Centre (APSC), Mumbai, arrested a 39-year-old pharmacy owner, Paresh Shambjibhai Senghani, for allegedly attempting to export psychotropic drugs without authorisation, in violation of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, 1985.
Senghani, a resident of Kutch in Gujarat, attempted this unlawful act on September 1. During a routine examination of export parcels, customs officers intercepted a suspicious parcel booked through M/s Atlantic International Express.
The consignment was declared as containing general medicines but, during thorough examination by the Intelligence Cell at APSC, a discrepancy was found between the invoice description and the documents uploaded in the ECCS system.
