Doc Willie Ong's Cancer Fight

Doc Willie Ong revealed his ongoing fight against abdominal cancer, sharing his experiences and diagnosis with his followers. He expressed, “I have a large abdominal cancer. It’s serious, but I will fight this battle. For all cancer patients in the Philippines, we will all get better together.” The prominent cardiologist disclosed that doctors found a 16 x 13 x 12 cm sarcoma hidden behind his heart and in front of the T10 spine.

Discovery of the Condition

In a video recorded on August 29 from his hospital room, Ong discussed his serious and complicated journey through chemotherapy. The 60-year-old mentioned that he first felt discomfort in April 2023 during medical missions, experiencing shortness of breath, fatigue, and difficulty swallowing.

Worsening Symptoms

• October 2022: Ong began experiencing back pain near his spine.
• August 2023: His back pain worsened, and stomach bloating began, leading to severe pain he described as, “Ten out of ten. Iiyak ka. You will cry.”

He remarked about the size and rarity of his tumor, stating it was “very aggressive and very large.” When reflecting on possible causes, he suggested, “Where did I get this? I think it’s from stress.” Despite his diagnosis, Ong maintains a positive outlook, stating that he feels God still has a purpose for him.

A Life of Service

Doc Willie Ong has gained acclaim for offering medical advice on social media platforms like Facebook and YouTube. Additionally, he was a senatorial candidate in the 2019 elections and ran for vice president in the 2022 polls alongside former Manila Mayor Isko Moreno.
