Ocean Park's Panda Naming Contest

Ocean Park in Hong Kong is hosting a fantastic opportunity for locals! Hong Kong's Secretary for Culture, Sports and Tourism, Kevin Yeung Yun-hung, has called on residents to take part in a citywide panda naming contest starting from Tuesday and running until October 27. The contest celebrates the giant pandas, An An and Ke Ke, recently brought from Sichuan as gifts from Beijing.

Details of the Contest

  • Participants must submit name suggestions accompanied by a paragraph of about 100 words explaining why their chosen names are fitting.
  • A drawing competition will also take place starting from October 21.
  • The panda naming contest and drawing competition are aimed at highlighting the personalities of the pandas.

The pandas arrived on a Cathay Cargo flight on September 26 and are set to quarantine at Ocean Park for at least 30 days before their public debut, which is expected around Christmas.
