Boston Scott: Steelers Add Depth with RB Signing at Practice Squad

Boston Scott's Impact on Steelers' Offseason
The Pittsburgh Steelers have signed running back Aaron Shampklin to their practice squad, the team announced Wednesday.
Shampklin was originally waived at the roster-cut deadline after signing a reserve/future contract with the team to close out the 2023 season.
However, an injury to practice squad RB Boston Scott, now placed on the Practice Squad/Injured List, created an opening on the practice squad.
Stepping Up Behind the Curtain
Shampklin averaged just 3.1 yards per carry in the preseason, totaling 40 yards on 13 attempts with no touchdowns. However, he earned solid reviews throughout training camp, and he should be an asset with his experience in the installment of the new Arthur Smith offense during the offseason.
Here’s a full look at the Steelers' practice squad as it stands on Wednesday, September 4 heading into Week 1 of the 2024 NFL season.
Note that teams are allowed 16 total players on the practice squad, but that teams can expand their practice squad rosters to 17 players if one of them is an international player. In the Steelers’ case, that player is NFL International Pathway Program DB Ayo Oyelola.
